Doug Lake

Pastor, Relational Care

Family Melissa and I met at Point Loma Nazarene University and married October, 8, 1994. Our sons were born in San Diego: Jackson (1996) and Nathan (1998). Our daughter, Gianna (2003), was born in China.

What do you like to do in your free time? Playing music (drums or bass) is fun and relaxing to me.

What might people find surprising about you? I wouldn’t call myself a bird watcher, but I do enjoy watching birds fly and soar. There is something freeing watching someone or something do what it was naturally created to do!

What’s the best advice you have ever received? My dad taught me that whenever I borrow something, always return it a little better than it was when I got it.

Who has made the biggest impact on your life? My parents impacted my life by showing me the importance of putting God first and by the way they encourage others.

If you could get coffee with on person, living or dead, who would it be? Teddy Roosevelt. From what I’ve read about him, he was a great leader and good father. He often would take breaks from cabinet meetings to go play with his kids! One of my favorite quotes: “The most important single ingredient in the formula of success is knowing how to get along with people.”
